Help needed to shrink photos

    Recommended Posts

    Hi All!

We took some great photos in the Onk Park today. We've also got some of the beach and the brats. How do we reduce the file size so that we can email them to rellies in the UK? It'll also help me post photos here.

Haven't got a bloody clue

My advice would be to use photo editing software like photoshop or PSP and resise them to around 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 then instead of mailing them back to the UK, just upload them to facebook as this will also keep down your bandwidth useage.

Put them in the wash on too hot a cycle......that should shrink em :P

    Not really.....what Cornish Busdriver said.

I also upload mine to a photo album on the net and only give friends and family access to them. We use Picasa Web Albums powered by google mail.

Aye, Whilst all the advice is good I agree with Tyke and we both practice what we preach.

I do put some photos onto facebook but they shrink them down to an insignificant size which look good on the web but dont print off well. Photobucket costs about £25 for life or similar, you invite people to see your photos so they are relatively safer.

It is also so simple to use a dumb bloke like myself uses it :)

There is a great free programme called photo resizer that I have used for severasl years now - Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP - scroll down to Image Resizer. What happens is when you have a photo on view on screen, you can right mouse click on it and it gives an option to resize, resaving the picture as xxx (small) - never had a single problem with it and did I mention it is FREE!!!

Just tried to fin a better link and the one above doesn't seem to work - so try this instead: http://download.cnet.com/Image-Resizer-Powertoy-for-Windows-XP/3000-18487_4-10905400.html

You don't need any additional software, so I am confused (doesn't take much) as to why you are all complicating things.

What OS are you using, and what email prog?
