Hand over files???

    Recommended Posts

    Hi guys,

According to numerous checklists we are at a point where we should be obtaining "handover files" from Dr's and dentists.

After a bit of searching on here it seems ok not to bother about getting copies of records but is a "hand over file" different.

    Thanks in advance. ;)

    Hi

Have just crossed through loads on that checklist, which is currently on the fridge!

We too are at his stage. Approached GP, who said would do a summary of our medical histories- at a cost of £15 per person!!!!

    Think we'll leave these.

Got dentist tomorrow and he is happy to do hand over docs for the boys as they will need orthodontic work in the future, no cost!

Primary school- no problem they are getting Aaron's records together.

    Secondary School - still chasing!!!!

    Packers coming in 3 weeks.............AARGH!

    Good luck!

I would suggest that unless any of your family have fairly major problems with their health, then the Doctors here will do a general check up when you sign on with one, and note any minor problems.

Dentists always seem to start from scratch with a fairly intensive and expensive examination to identify any problems when you sign onto their surgery.

My wife has rheumatoid arthritus, so we bought a letter from her consultant in England to pass on to the specialist here, but I had no records passed across.

You might get a shock however when you discover the costs of medical examinations and medicines here as there is no National Health as such, and part of the Doctors cost comes from Medicare if you qualify, and then topped up by you. Medicines you pay thye full cost.

    Hi,

Sorry to interrupt but we don't have a checklist yet and need to put one together as our flights are booked for August. Could you point me in the best direction to get hold of any that are already done or any useful web sites we can collect pointers from.

    Cheers

    Hi there

We are using the one from inside the Australia and New Zealand magazine, its in every issue. We get the mag from Tesco or WHSmith.

Have also seen it on here somewhere, so maybe try a search and there may be a link to it that you can print off???

    Good luck with everything.:)

    Hi

We moved over a few years ago now and I just asked my GP to photocopy mine and Andy's medical records and I brought them all with me and just gave them to our new GP here.

I guess if you have no problematic medical history to be concerned with then it might be ok not to bother but sometimes you forget things and as I am a bit of a worrier lol I thought it best to have copies in case.

I didn't bother with dental records though.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey

Yes, I asked for this too, but GP's now charge for ANY extra thing, so still £15/each, agree with 'The Kings', better spent on beer and barbies!!!:)

Just to say that vaccination records are very useful, especially for young ones as some schools and nurseries require proof that kids have been vaccinated. Also the regime is different in Oz so you need you check your kids aren't missing out or up for two!!
