if you passed your test in uk then you should still have a valid uk licence...ive still got mine plus sa licence...

But you will still have an active licence on the DVLA records I suspect. I think I'm right in saying your original licence will be in date until your 70th birthday. Not like the SA one that needs renewing every 15 minutes! Although all this is a bit of a mute point really unless you are considering going for longer than 12 months?

you can drive in the UK on your SA licence. you only need an international licence if your driving licence is written in a language other than English.
