Any advice please!!!!

We've just sold our house in the UK and the funds went into our RBS account there a few days ago. We were told that with internet banking we could move things around as we liked and had also set up a transfer account with Comm bank in London to bring money here. But we now find out there is a limit to how much we can transfer out of our account with online banking, something that they certainly didn't mention to us previously. After frustrating phone calls to the bank, apparently the only way for us to transfer money to our Commbank account in London and then here, is to send a letter in the post (!) to RBS, then we phone them to make sure they've received it (!!) etc etc Has anyone else experience of this? We can't quite believe it and would be really be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

    Hi

We opened an australian account from the u.k then started sending funds via HIFX they give a good rate and are free. The limit is £10,000 per day. You don't do it through your bank as they will charge, it works a bit like a bill payment with internet banking. The people are really friendly at HIFX and talked me through my transaction. the website is www.hifx.co.uk.

    hope this helps

We had a similar problem. $10,000 online limit per day from HSBC when we left in November but by the time we were transferring in May it was $5000. We actually set up a daily transfer online for a few weeks of $5000 per day to our moneycorp account and then left it in their holding account for a few months until we bought a house.

    Aussie pat's other half here.

It is frustrating. If you've got access to a fax, you could ask your bank if you can set up a fax authority so that they will act on instructions faxed to them. If they will do this it will take a few days while they send you the form, you return it and they process it, but then they should act on faxes you send the same day. This is what we did. I always used to phone the bank after sending the fax to make sure it wasn't just lying around on the fax machine. I realise in these days of call centres, getting through to a branch can be a challenge, but it might be worth a try. Good luck.

Hi we moved our money from RBS to Comm bank in London last week and found the same with internet banking. We managed to transfer it all by going into the nearest branch and doing the transaction at the counter there, we did get a phone call from RBS later that day to confirm lots of details due to the amount we were transferring
