Curse of the jet lag!!

    Hi all,

Landed yesterday after a very tiring couple of days. Advice was to stay awake and then go to bed at normal time, but having had about 10 mins sleep in a 36 hour period and flying from Hong Kong to Adelaide via Sydney finally took its toll.

Went to KFC for tea, put me card in the machine didn't know what option to take, cheque, cash or savings, put the wrong number in, then it wouldn't accept it anyway (think I pressed the wrong option please help). So gave up with that and tried to pay in dollars, which the girl had to go and check with her manager.....apparently they don't accept Hong Kong dollars! :biglaugh::biglaugh:. Sorted in the end though, and whats with the mash potato in the gravy! And the hot wings were HUGE they must have come off an EMU compared to the rubbish UK ones which obviously come off a Sparrow.

Oh dear hope your getting over the jet lag! the whole credit, saving and cheque thing had us confused too. (still does)

It you were using your UK one use credit.

They have a different system for bank cards here which I still don't really get but Credit means it's like a credit card but it's the same for us if it's cheque except you can get cash back on cheque option!!!!

I hate the whole mash and gravy thing too! yuck aussie friends told us to dunk our chips in it! no thanks, I just tell them to leave it out.

Any other probs or questions just ask, it does get easier. :jiggy:

    Welcome to Oz. :jiggy:

I would say with the jet lag is to sleep when youneed to. Your body will 'right' itself in a few days.

Good luck with your settling. Things do take a while to get used to but you'll get there.

Pete's right just sleep when ever and you'll soon pan out. Your post made me laugh because I did stupid things when I had Jetlag. We also were confused over the whole cheque, savings credit thing...lol. Our things have arrived but the house is a **** hole but your welcome to come round for a drink.

Mash and gravy isn't just an Australian thing. Was touring the US a few years back and you had to ASK for vegetables with any sort of meat - you got mash and gravy whether you wanted it or not....

Saw a thing on TV about jet lag saying the best way to avoid it is to not eat (if travelling EAST) and then go to bed at bed time in new country and you shouldnt have any jet lag.

Sounded good to me except I do know that certain airlines watch what you eat and if you dont have any food, they tell customs who get the big gloves out (as apparently eating gets the bowels moving and if you have swallowed anything it comes out too quickly!!!!)

I saw that on TV too, but the only time I have ever felt air sick was when I flew with an empty stomach, so that's one theory I won't be putting to the test!
