Verbal contract agreement?

    Recommended Posts

    Hi

Put an offer on a house yesterday in writing . The Estate agent phoned to say that the Vendor had excepted the offer verbally .Then she said that someone else is looking at the house today as well .Does this mean that the verbal acknowledgement and acceptance of the offer is rubbish if the next people offer more .Sounds like a form of Gazumping .

Just wondered if anyone else has had the same experience .

It's no good untill they sign. If you love the place you may want to go higher, but it sounds like a money hiking scam to me.

We did this once, i won't go into to much detail, we would not go higher, so they took it off the market.

We had signed and the deal was all done verbally.

I might be wrong, but am pretty sure the estate agent should have given you a form so that the offer was in writing. Nothing is guaranteed until it is in writing and been signed by both parties.

Never forget the estate agent is working on the behalf of the vendor, the more he/she gets for the property the more he/she makes in commission.
