Mrs Tyke and I had a wander down the Fleurieu Penninsular coast yesterday (30/12/10) in high 30c heat.

Photos start from Myponga which is south of Aldinga.

Have a look through all the posts as I can only put a few pics in each post.

We love this land............:notworthy:

Trying out Mrs Tyke's new camera .Sony Cyber Shot DSC - HX5V.

I like the panoramic facility - nothing touched up or altered, just as taken.

Also some ordinary format pics.

Myponga Dam,take time to stop here and look out from the viewing platform, looks nice and full for a change!

Rapid Bay.

A little township where time stood still.:o

The beach is wonderful to the left with a camp site on the beach front.

To the right is the Jetty -there is an old one as well that served the quarry to the rear.

The new one is excellent for fishing!

A view out over Rapid Bay.............. "O sunburnt land!"

We then went on a few dirt tracks, nearly all OK without 4 WD but do be careful of the loose and dusty surfaces.

The hills have turned to their summer colour now :cute:

Cape Jervis, Gateway to Kangaroo Island and the ferry terminal.

Great views over to KI - it's far bigger than most realise - yes that land mass in the distance is KI!

Cape Jervis township is very quiet, has a few cafes,B&B's.

Charter fishing is popular from here - be aware this stretch of water can get very rough and has some of the strongest tides imaginable!

Park up and watch the ferry's load and unload, there is a cafe in the terminus, great place to sit and watch.

Deep Creek Conservation Park and Blowhole Beach.

A fabulous place!

Lots of walking trails including the Heysen Trail, camping and picnic areas.

Be aware there is an entry fee of $8.50 at an honesty box - do pay and display the sticker in your vehicle as the Ranger is always around!

Up to the road down to Blowhole Beach it can be accessed by 2wd - the road down to Blowhole Beach is strictly 4WD! The road is loose and very steep with some very sheer drop off's!!. The pics don't quite convey the steepness.

There is a car park near the bottom and then it's a walk down to the beach - well worth it! Some days you might get the place to yourself!

Plenty of wild Kangaroos watch you, we swear some of em' wave at you!

View down to Blowhole Beach car park....... a bit of a walk down to the beach from there.

The beach itself - the sand bank is great for riding down on a Boogie board!

Nice to read that you lot are doing to have a look around there now .

(That was part of the cunning plan - great to motivate people to explore :cute:)

Going out today with the camera again, just not sure where yet.

Might call in on a few sore heads on Adlinga Beach :biglaugh::biglaugh:

Looks like a request for us to drive on the beach and take some shots then:cute::cute:

Might then shoot off to Mannum which is a lovely town on the Murray River or pop into the hills around the scenic Tunkillo area............. decisions, decisions!!:cute:
