Help needed with names

    Recommended Posts

Got a new kitten - he's black and fluffy - and trying to think of a good name. Toying with calling him Ashes (just to rub it in to the neighbours) but looking for other suggestions - our other animals are Bonny and Ducati (Duke).

Any good suggestions? It has to be something that doesn't make me feel stupid when I stand at the front door and call his name!

    Calisto (means dark star)

Harley (to go with the Ducati)

Hugo (I had an orange cat called that but you're welcome to purloin it - though for me it means 'ginger tom of varying temperament and 'stuff you' attitude to life')

Cooper (our much loved, recently deceased Great Dane ... black one)

Harvey (our pesky pest, new Great Dane puppy ... black and white)

    Snowy (cos he isn't)

    Nero (italian for black)

........ what fun.....it's hard to name pets isn't it? How do people every manage to come up with something for their kids?!?!?!

When I had the kids I had already used up all my favourite names on cats! We had Samantha and Elouise, aka Sam and Ella (round the time of the Egg crisis) - , then when Ella lost a fight with a car, got Moose to replace her (then we had Sam 'n Moose - from Monty Python - arrgghh not the....) Then many years later we had (a)Maisie and Grace (I used to sing their names together). Nearly called our grey cat here Clawed or Cloud to go with Bonny, but one of the neighbours has a rabbit called Cloud...

Many thanks for the suggestions, some good ones in there :)

My vote goes to Dave - have always wanted to have a cat called Dave but alas have only had female cats so far. 'John' comes a close second.

I just love the idea of having a cat with a human name - makes me smile just thinking about it.

The only trouble with calling it Dave or John, or something similar, is that we have a park opposite us, so when I call the cat in, who knows who may come running.....!!! Hmmmm... on the other hand, that's quite an attractive thought.......:embarrassed:

Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll put them all on the voting list!

We have two cats named `Dexter` and `Morgan` after the famous TV serial killer.

`Simon` is a great name for a cat.

Many thanks to everyone for their suggestions - after much discussion I think we have settled on calling him Harry. He will have a choice of second names: Stowcat, Stottle, Vaderchy, Kari, Co-Vairt...as every cat needs a secret name he/she doesn't share with the world!

Will post up a pic as soon as he stands still long enough for me to take one that isn't just a blur.

    Thanks again:notworthy:

Hi, yep we went for Harry in the end so the pets together are now Bon, Duke and Harry.

Cats both getting on really well with lots of leaping on each other round corners - Dog feeling a bit left out!
