date of expiry on visa

Does anyone know how they work out the expiry date for the visa?

Is it from the first date you applied?

Or is it so long after being granted the visa.

Can you go over to secure the visa than come back and sell your house. If there are problems with closing everything in England

We applied for a skilled visa in February this year. We are currently waiting for allocation of a case officer. Than its a case of medicals and police checks.

As far as I understand it and I could be wrong, it goes from the date of the medicals. You have a year from your medicals to validate your visa.

It goes from the date of whichever you did first...meds or police checks.

Dont know what visa you have and dont know about them all, but you can come and validate, then go back, but this does affect things like PR-citizenship, ask your agent, they will be able to tell you for sure

    Hi there

Thats right the date you have to enter Australia is the date which is earliest on either your police checks or medicals - you have a year from that date to enter Australia (either to validate or to come for good). That doesn't mean that you have to stay in Australia at that point you then have five years within which to return. The main applicant must enter Australia first (ie if you all come together they present their passport first) and then everyone else. This is the case I think for 136 visas - not sure about the others.

    Hope this helps
