Hi does anybody have any recomendations on good and most accessible banks around hallet cove areas. Were thinking of setting up an account whilst in the UK and paying some in each month. Is it correct that you get charged for using competitor speedbank machines??

    thanks Lisa

There is a West pac in Hallett Cove.

Some times you get charged if you use a different banks hole in the wall.

West pac let you use Bank SA and St George for free.

    Hope that helps?

We thinking of going with nab, they are highly rated for mortgages and someone confirmed previously there are loads of cash machines for them, plus no charges. Would be interested in hearing other views though.

    2 bux a transaction

Setting up a bank account is good, if there is a blip in the exchange rate you could take advantage of this before you move.

Don't laff too much, 2 years ago when it was 1.95 dollar to the pound it blipped tp 2.75 to the pound in a day. Then dropped backed to 2.25. Being on the money would have earned you a lot, so having an account to send it too would be helpful. ( some clever people earned good money on this)

The best way to draw money out without charges if you can't find one of your own bank's ATMs is to use the cashback facility offered at several places - supermarkets, McDonalds, post offices etc and some petrol stations.

I'll second Westpac, always been good for us, no complaints. And as said before Bank SA and Westpac ATM in Hallett Cove so no charges.

Just another thing to consider when choosing which bank and what type of account is account keeping fees. Some accounts will charge a monthly fee - usually approx $5 - and some also limit the amount of eftpos/cash withdrawals you can make within a month. There are accounts that will not charge you these fees but these often involve making a minimum amount of deposits within the month.

Best thing I can recommend is to do some research. It is possible to bank for free you just have to bank smart. You learn where the atm's are that you can use for free and if you have a limit of transactions you learn how to manage these. ;)

I use nab they don't have a monthly fee and unlimited efpos and ATM use. There are a lot of ATMs around. We chose them because we could deposit transfers from Uk without charge. And there were no minimum balance or deposits. Who ever you are going to use to transfer your money should be able to help with your choice.
