wow yeah that is interesting.

we've known each other for 10 years but we have only been together 2 years.

i'll research more into that i think

That's long enough. I have a friend who had been in a relationship for eighteen months and she was able to prove they had an established relationship.

Good luck,

Cooler

L@ur@ Im defo with you on that!

What I can tell you is that you will be assessed by AITSL to be Pre Primary only if your qualification states that age group. (0-6 I think) I f it states (like mine) 5-11 then its Primary Teacher (ive taught nursery/reception for 3 years! but makes no difference!) I emailed AITSL to check this. So anyway get your skills assesses and come and join us awaiting the changes of July!:err:

This post is spot on.

4 years ago I was classed as pre primary but when I registered with the teacher registration board here I was classed as primary.

You need an early childhood degree to qualifiy for pre primary. They will accept nothing else.:arghh:

Oh thats wonderful!!

Isn't primary aged 8 and up over there? basically juniors over here (personally i can't think of anything worse!! Just my opinion tho!!!)

So if you are registered over there to teach 'primary' what happens for relief/supply teachers, does that mean thats all you can teach or is there any leeway at all??

I'm sooooooo not a junior teacher, so looks like i best start a new degree lol!!

viks x

What you are classified as is purely for the visa - once you get there you can teach anyone anything pretty much - as long as they will give you the job that is, but the difference between pre-primary and primary isn't a huge one in the grand scheme of things so is interchangeable, the major difference being that pre primary generally seem to work in day care, which the pay is peanuts, whereas primary is in schools and the pay is the teachers payscale (what I have worked out from my research at any rate).

Primary is from age 5years and up, certainly not just juniors....

Basically you wouldn't be able to get a permanent job in a kindy or a pre school..whether state or private. But seen as there are no perm jobs around..it doesn't really make any difference!!!!

And if you wanted to work in childcare....the rules are changing and from 2012 all childcare centres will need a qualified teacher on site!! Now whether the government will contribute to their wages and bump them up like in NSW and Queensland to about 80% of a teachers pay ..is doubtful!!!

You will not be allowed to be qualified in childcare which is absolutely ridiculous in my mind....however I managed it with a B.ed hons degree..but had to jump through hoops.

It will be interesting to see what happens in 2012!!!!

that sounds like scotland, they higher fully qualified teachers to guide the child care workers in curriculum development and assessment.. but again the pay isnt great for the child care workers.

Ill adapt :)
