Mrs Thickie needs some help...

Alright, I'll admit it from the start - I know virtually nothing about technology. I can switch on this computer and switch it off again, that's pretty much as far as it goes! So don't sit there muttering about how thick I am, just help me please!!! Last year I bought Richie an ipod for his birthday, but being a selfish mare I then put all my own music on it much to his disgust. So, for xmas this year I bought him another one for his very own self. Now, the problem is, every time I go into itunes it wants to put all my music onto his ipod (which would be ok with me - his is better than mine now:D) The question is then, how do I put Richie's cd's onto his own playlist? How do I start the playlist in the first place? Every time I upload (download???) a cd, it goes automatically onto my playlist. What am I doing wrong please? Am I even making any sense?? Help!:arghh:

I'm a bit like yourself......but I asked my OH as he is the one who dealt with all the mp3's etc....

The suggestion that he has made is this, you should have an installation cd which came with the new ipod, install this and then give it a try to upload the songs the RICHIE wants on HIS ipod. If this doesn't work, then the next suggestion would be to delete your hardware from the computer and install Richie's and upload the tunes from the new playlist as the old one should be deleted.

Someone else on here may have other suggestions, but I am a Mrs Thickie too, so hope the above helps. x

Hi Liz,

Hopefully yours is the same as mine, and you start with a music folder at the top of ITUNES, with all the music in that has been imported, if that's right then all you need to do is go to File - then New playlist and create Rich's playlist, when that's done if you import a CD I think it still has to be imported into the music folder, but can then be copied into Rich's playlist. Then to ensure you only fill your IPOD up with your music, you may have to create a LIZ playlist and copy your music from the MUSIC folder to yours.

I'll call Rich tomorrow to check.
