Hi Carol Ann,

I haven't got a clue about "macro", my husband took the photo, I shall ask!

By the way, I love the your paintings, especially the blue with white splashes on (sorry for my ignorance and forgetfulness of the name - how rude!) but I love it anyway and still have a strong image of it in my head.

Hiya,

The only reason I know about the "macro" function is due to the following website...

http://www.mytinygarden.com/newSite/flashMain.htm

I just love that sort of stuff..like a different world. Makes me want to save up and buy the camera he uses :-)

Thanks for the compliment re my painting..it's "winter firefly" :-) If I thought I could set up a wee shop / gallery and make a living at it I'd be the happiest person in SA. Nice to dream ;-)

Sigh..best get off and get on...got work to go to in like half an hour.

Catch ya later

New to the forum today thought I'd have a look at some photos of Adelaide as that is where we would like to live and what do I stumble across?

Well, I couldn't really make it out at first so reached for my glasses and clicked to make the photo bigger :arghh:

OMG I nearly fainted at that spider, wasn't prepared for that, have come over all funny :goofy:

Hope Blackie was the last of it's kind I think I need therapy!

Lol, Dianne,

Blackie was a window spider and non vemonous. He used to stay in his web and his web caught all the pesky flies for us. Unfortunatly his web just got bigger and bigger and my window was looking like something from the Adams family, so it had to go.

Its white tips and red backs you have to be careful about. But don't get stressed about the whole spider issue. If that was the case, no one would live in Australia. Google both spiders, have a good look at them, so you know what to look out for when you get here then chill! If you don't like bashing them, then a can of insect killer will do the job!

Deep breaths now!!;)

hi all

Glad it wasn't just me that felt like that about the spider photo - even though it was a good shot. Last year when we were in Adelaide staying with OH mum, first night there sitting down to dinner and a big spider walks past that was the 1st scream, few days later come out of the inside market and a cockroach in my handbag 2nd scream, but not enough to put me off coming out in March for good.

Good on ya! Thats the spirit!

My OH caught a red back last week. We put it in a jar and used Thomas's Mirco Eye to have a good look at it. (Microscope that plugs into T.V).

But sadly, the spider had to go to spider heaven!

SADLY????? Spiders freak me out too much to get up close and personal with htem. I can't even bring myself to go on the websites and have a look at a piccie of a red back and a white tip. It's the one thing I am most definitely NOT looking forward to in Oz.

So, bug spray, a well trained cat or a flip flip taped to a broom handle....what's the best anti-spider device going? :wideeyed:

Phew thanks for the advice!

I love(loved) spiders in the U.K but was watching a program called Australia's Deadliest Destinations and had nightmares for weeks and am now officially scared of all spiders and snakes! I shall be investing in lots of pint glasses when we move out there as many times I have gone downstairs to an upside down glass as my husband is a lot worse than me and I have to take them out as he's too scared so god help us out there!

Lovely photo's too

thanks

My FIL taped that programme and showed it to my boys last week, they thought is was really cool until their granda told them about when he was in RAF and in the desert when he got bitten by a snake, he has a scar on his leg where someone cut him with a knife to suck out the venom, think that wiped the smiles off there faces:biglaugh:

O/H won't even watch the programme
