Hello All

Have just received notification from our agents that they want us to book meds & police checks for March/April time. What we can't understand is that the visa has only just been lodged and as we are going in under family sponsorship have been told it will take up to a year to process so if we are being asked to get meds now by the time our visa is granted we will only have about 3/4 mths to sell up etc if that :chatterbox:

any suggestions as obviously we cannot afford to get two lots of meds & police checks done.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

Happy New Year to everyone!

Tim and Morag

Hi,

the police checks can take 40 days to receive once applied for, they cost £10 each so not to much if you have to apply again, the meds, in most places can be booked at quite short notice, a few weeks should be enough, you could ask the medical center you intend useing if this is the case, so it maybe an idea to wait until March and talk again to your agent, they may have more idea of the processing times by then.

Have they been requested from Oz or is this your agent requesting them?

If you are in no hurry I would wait until they are requested. However, have words with your agent as they may know something we don't. ;) Also ask them for a rough date the visa would normally be expected to be granted. This will help with the house sale.

Hi Tim and Morag

My daughter, Rachael's, agent advised them to wait until they had received their reference number before booking their medicals and that seemed to work very well time-wise for them. However, I think you could probably apply for your police checks as Simon suggested as it is only £10 and they do take a while to come through.
