Hello, I've just joined this forum, what a godsend, we have our visas, sir 495, and are hoping to go to Adelaide in March/April. Havn't got a clue on what areas are nice and where we want to live there, we have three boys, 17, 14 and 9 so schools have to be good also. We're not sure who or who to get to transfer our money and furniture over. Please can somebody help us. Our heads are blowing up with it all:arghh:

Hi Guys;) welcome to PIA , dont worrey about all the questions , they have all been asked before, check out www.hifx.co.uk for getting your money over to oz we are using them and they were really helpfull ,so give them a call.

 

Shipping wise its just a case of getting 2 or 3 quotes and playing them off againt one another to get the price down a little , average price for a 20' sole use container is between £3,200 and £4,200 ish.

Suburb wise its just a case of picking brains , we are looking at the Seaford to Port Noarlunga area , for us it has lots of schools to choose from, great beaches, the countryside is nearby and all the shops we need , an area we loved on our reccie. Good luck , Cheers Graham & Jacqui

we have used HIFX twice and very happy with the way it was all dealt with, very professional and so easy. As others have said area is down to personal preference, have a look at www.realestate.com.au for a quick peek at house prices for buying and rental, it may just help you make up your mind!

Thanks for all your advice, most helpful. We're not sure as what to take over to oz, like tvs, washing machine, most electrical appliances, should we bring them or do you think that its cheeper to sell them here and buy there? Is there a lot of english football over there in Adelaide as all my three boys are avid footballers.

We fly out end of March and have decided take most of our belongings.

 

My 2 boys are also avid football fans so I too am hoping that they will both me able to get involved in football over there.

We're in the process of selling our house at the moment, so it all depends on that. Where are you going to live in Adelaide and have you sorted schools out for your boys already? My boys are 17, 14 and 9. Are all your kids excited to go?

Not sure where we would like to be at the moment, but think we would like to take a look at the South, but all depends where Andrew gets a job.

 

I haven't sorted schools yet. Want to have a good look around when we get out there first before I make a decision. We are all getting very excited now, just counting down.
