Paul and Shaz here from rainy Manchester!

 

Started the process this week with migration advisor, hope it doesn't take to long we were set to go traveling for a year or two, but decided it may be good to travel out on a full visa then we don't have to come back when money gets short!

 

Adelaide will sponsor us on the state migration option, we hadn't considered the area before, but looking into it we think it could be a good choice for us.

 

We're fairly laid back people, no kids in tow, together 14yrs but not married!

 

I graduated in fine art, I read that Adelaide is a bit of a cultural capital, would people here agree with that? Would love to settle in a laid back area where there is a bit of a contemporary art scene around, any ideas?

 

good to meet you all, hope it wont be to long before we go! We'd like to set by off August?! Is that hopelessly optimistic?

Just thought I'd say Hi welcome to PIA. We have our visa, it took from May (when application was sent) to Nov for visa to come through. May well be different now since the changes in Sept.

Can't help with the area i'm afraid as we are still waiting on our visa, (timelines below, these won't be the same as yours as ours is a paper based application and online ones are moving quicker, hence the reason for the change!)

Thanks for the messages back already! I get the feeling its a good/supportive bunch on here!

 

I've basically used my degree to work in Printing/Graphic Design and Mac IT roles.

Shaz runs her own cleaning biz in Manchester and may try and rebuild that in OZ.

 

We're open to new challenges though, hence the move!

Hmmm cultural capitol...not from what I've seen but I'm sure keen to suss that out more when we get back. I'm going back with my Australian husband, who is from Adelaide, and spent 3 months there previously. I'm up for hunting down culture when I get back, cuz I sure didn't see much last time around;)
