Has anyone had to prove evidence of savings, our brother in law is applying for this and has been told that he needs to have 60k in the bank, is this a recent change or has it always been this way.....from folk we know they have never been asked to prove any money in the bank...it seems they are making it harder and harder all the time...

    any info will be great,

    Thanx

I had a dig around on PIO and found the odd thread, although they are not all specific to SA

This one is for SA though - http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/127229-176-sponsorship-proof-funds.html

We're having to go to ACT and had to prove money in the bank which we were not expecting, thank goodness for bank of Dad for a loan! I find it ridiculous as we have the equity in our home and won't go unless it sells

Hi HG, We did not have to prove anything for SS in SA. Simply stated what we would have when we arrived - not what cash we have in the bank now. The website states that it is when you arrive and that evidnence is NOT required also not to dispose of any assets pior to VISA grant. Was he told this by an agent by any chance????

As of today the wensite states the below

    IrishStew (OH)

11.1 Applicants must ensure that they have sufficient funds

for settling and living when they arrive in South Australia.

Applicants should not dispose of any assets before the visa is granted and these

funds must be available upon arrival in South Australia.

Evidence of financial capacity is not required. However, Immigration SA reserves

the right to seek additional information or evidence at a later stage if

necessary. The requirement depends on whether you are applying offshore or

    onshore:

Ditto what Stew said, we only had to state what we will have when we land, not what we have now, or have to prove it at all.

Who has told your BIL this?

SA usually doesnt ask for any kind of evidence of savings;though it does say to keep the docs ready just in case they ask for them..but giving it alongwith the application is not necessary

We were granted 176 last August and weren't asked for proof just as mentioned above the amount we were bringing with us at time of our move.

Rules may have changed since then though.
