Fruit and Veg

In the UK I quite enjoy growing whatever fruit and veg I can (Strawberries, potatoes, onions, garlic, tomatoes, leeks etc...)

I was wondering with a difference in climate what sort of thing can you grow in South Australia and how does the flies/bugs etc effect them as they aren't too bad back here.

I have grown my own veg this year for the first time, have tried tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers (capsicum) and chillies, they are all in full sun and have done great so far...have had 5 cucumbers from 4 plants so far and lots of fruit on the tomatoes, the only thing is you really have to be on top of the watering... over the last few days and when we had 40c over new year I was out there watering 2 or 3 times aday! Havent had any trouble with bugs but I saw on TV - Gardening Australia - to plant basil round them which I have done and no greenfly or anything so good tip.
