Over the last year I have been working towards submitting a 176 visa application for state sponsorship to South Australia. During that time several changes have occurred and I am no wondering what my chances are and if anyone can offer some advice?

    My details are:

I am applying under the Environmental Manager position 139912 (which now appears on a consolidated skilled occupation list)

I have my qualifications and experience successfully assessed by VETASSESS

Over ten years experience in role

No experience of working in Australia

    I am 40 years old

    Married with two young children

Qualifications are : MSc Environmental Protection

    BSc Hons Biology

    qualifications taken in England

    No qualifications taken in Australia

I am seeking state sponsorship for South Australia

I am a native English speaker

Despite the above I took the IELTS Exam and scored

I am not jointly applying with my wife, although she is a primary school teacher.

No one in my family has any convictions or health issues

Today I submitted my EOI, yet I do not feel confident. Do I stand a reasonable chance or is there anything I should redo or carry out to ensure we get the right points. From some of the online forms i have found my points score ranges from 50 to 75. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Hi Barham,

I'm no expert on the 176 visa. I was granted a 475 SS. By looking at your qualifications I see only one problem (people correct me if I'm wrong) you scored a 6.5 on your reading. I think that you have to score above 7 on all categories. Asides from that I think that with the positive assessment of your qualifications you have a good chance of obtaining the visa.

Best of luck to you and the family.

    Cheers:smile:

From what you have posted, your prospects do not look very promising. May I suggest that you review your EoI feedback and run your case past a registered migration agent?

From what you have posted you need to re-do your IELTS to gain 7's in each to get 10 points. That shouls help you reach the pass mark and get an invite if successful with SA State Nomination
