Hi, our 3 kids have been going there since we arrived in september 2010 (now in years 1, 3 & 5). We really like the friendly community feel of the school - people and teachers are really kind and helpful. The school has become a college this year as it is going to school from kindy to year 12 (eventually), it stated year 8 classes this year and will add on a new level each year. It got a new head teacher this year who is really enthusiastic and helping the school to develop new ideas. I really like the school and have joined the parents and friends commitee and i'm also class carer for one of the classes. As with all schools there are some things that are not always how you'd like them to be (change of uniform a bit of playground topic as new name = new clothes being one), but really it's up to you. We looked at Investigator college but didn't like the feel of the place, but you know as a parent wether it will work for you and your child(ren). The teachers we've had have been fantastic, the office staff very helpful and the academic side very good (have support for under and over achievers). They also have a holistic approach to help children develop in all areas not just academic.

    Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for that. We are moving to Victor Harbor in January for my husbands work. Do you find the lifestyle there ok for kids. I ask because traditionally-at leat when I was young-Victor HArbour was a holiday town, or ''gods waiting room'' where the retirees settled.

I woulod also be interested in your opinion of medical facilities etc. Many thanks

We love it here for the kids - older teenagers might find less to do. There lots of clubs and sports groups for the kids and Greenhills adventure park (can buy a years pass and then can go for just an hour for the water slides after school in summer). It was in the local paper a few weeks ago that on average one family a week are moving to Victor, so it is losing the retiree stigma. There are more shops now and we find we can get almost everything we need, just going to Noarlunga or Marion about once a month for bigger stuff. We have found the medical facilites to be good, although we haven't needed the hospital for an emergency yet! Most specialist come down regularly to the doctors / hospital. The library is good and staff very friendly, we love the small town feel where people in shops etc do literally know your name! It does get busy during the holidays and having real traffic for a few weeks is a shock, but Woolies and Coles are open until 10pm and stock up very quick so shopping isnt an issue. The take away places aren't too great and we've almost got a table named after us at Nino's (best place to eat) but it's just the pro's and con's of living in a small town.

    Hi corinneb

Just thought I'd add that I agree with the comments made by Shines.

We moved to Victor Harbor (Encounter Bay) in June, we have 4 children and our daughters are loving it.....especially the beach.

They are starting at Encounter Lutheran in the near future.....the school seems great with small classes and a caring Christian headmaster

(We are moving them out of the local public school and also weren't impressed by the Investigator School)
