Looking for admin work

This is normal. Having come from a HR background in the UK the recruitment 'process' in Adelaide takes some getting used to!!!

In general Nov, Dec, Jan are the worst times to be looking for work, Adelaide usually comes to a standstill in terms of taking people on. At the moment the job market is very slow, the worst I have seen it in the nearly 6 years we have been here. However, you never know when an opportunity will arise and I have secured a temp role to start on Monday, which is a welcome surprise being so close to Christmas.

Thanks for that advice! It is just a little disheartening when you do not hear anything back

It is quite normal not to hear back from the employer or to hear back months after you applied and I agree it can be disheartening and frustrating.

Even when you get to interview stage it still makes me laugh how the organisations appear to have no idea on a recruitment process or how to treat people. The approach I take is the companies that are unprofessional when you apply for a job or go to an interview, I do not buy their products or services in the future - hit them where it hurts - in the pocket!!

I went to one interview a few months ago and did not hear anything (I was temping at the time so had to lose half a days pay to attend the interview), then I saw the job advert appear again on seek, about a week later they left me a message to say I did not get the job, I felt like saying "no sh*t sherlock, I worked that out for myself when I saw it back on seek" ha ha!!!!
