Sharing a container . Using John Mason

Hi there

I've read a couple of nightmare stories regarding sharing a container and having to wait up to 5 months for their stuff?

Has anyone got any good stories?

We are on quite a tight budget and it is £600 more for an exclusive container, so we were going to go for the shared option

Love to hear your stories

Thanks

Hiya

we didn't use John mason but we did share our container and it was picked up on the 25th July and then left 2nd August and arrived here in adelaide on the 28th October then 10 days ish in customs and we didn't have a prob. I suppose we could have saved ourselves some time by going in our own container but we were more than happy with a shared and if uv got to buy the basics for 3 week wait for your stuff over here to make it 4 or 5 is easy enough

good luck with ur move

Hi,

I used John Mason and they were excellent. Picked up stuff 1/6 and it was shipped out 22/6 reached Adelaide 19/8 ( 3 days after I had arrived), Recd at my home approx 2 wks later as they have to put it through quarantine and it depends on how busy they are. I found the guys they used were very proffesional and I only had 1 bowl broken. Good luck with whatever you do.

no personal experience. This is probably your best option, ...but it's worth checking where the container is going to be delivered:

If it's somewhere like Port Adelaide

- how do you access and transport your possessions

-will they charge "demurrage" (which is a scam for charging you storage after the container has arrived)

If it's door to door

-where are you going put the container,

-and how long will they leave it there?

Hi we are using John Mason. They are coming in 2 weeks to pack up our items and ship it over.

I know how tricky it is but they have been very helpful when I've been asking lots of questions. We don't leave UK until 27th Jan but our worry was that if we left it until Jan then we might be stuck in Oz waiting for it etc.

Hope that helps.

thanks everyone.

will ask john mason a few more questions and then make a decision. and hopefully it wont be a nightmare!

We used john mason a couple of years ago and they were very good , they used a lorry to pick up our stuff as we were sharing then they repack it into the container at there depot . when we recieved it in another lorry the guys unpacked all large items , put it into the rooms we wanted and took all the rubbish away with them . could not fault them . hope this helps...Gary
