Hiya all.. we have been renting our house out now in the UK for over a year now since we moved.. we filled out the self assessment forms as stated by the inland revenue. But now iv received a bill for £136.40 for national insurance contributions? i know i will have to call them to resolve as i can never locate an email address, but wondered if anybody else pays UK national insurance.

Thanks Lisa

You only pay uk nat ins if u want to stay in the nat ins contributions for a state pension. It's all to do with qualifying years, think its around 30 for uk and you can then claim it from oz when time comes. 136 is class 2 contributions so alot less rate than class 1.

Ok, thank you.. i'm a while off getting my pension but i may need every penny i can get at that time so maybe worth paying.. i will have a think... thanks
