Seasons Greeting and best wishes to all in PIA:biggrin:

Have a lovely Christmas wherever you are ,enjoy some quality time with your loved ones and friends.

We are just having a quiet one at our new home with our immediate family

:xmas3:

Not that hot for Christmas Day this year with a temp of 25c so far. A bit cooler for the roast dinner though!

May the New Year bring what you are striving for, whether it be your visa, selling your house to get here or just plain feeling settled here.

Along with a lot of health and happiness:smile:

Merry Christmas to all you lovely PIA people.

Hope its a great one for you whether its your first in Adelaide, just one of many in Australia or still waiting for your first sunny one and are having to endure rain, fog, sleet, floods, drizzle or minus temperatures back in the UK (or another part of the world)

Hope the New Year brings you everything you need.

We're ready for our first Christmas in Oz, absolutely loving the place ...... the people...... the weather - looking forward to hitting the beach and our bbq turkey dinner. Wishing you all a fabulous Christmas however you spend it and good luck to those of you on your way over - it's SO worth the effort it takes to get here x

Merry Christmas to you and yours Tyke and all the lovely people here on PIA. I hope Santa finds his way to all our homes.

I will be making some traditional Greek biscuits today made with Cinnamon, cloves, orange dipped in a lightly spiced syrup (after baking), then topped with sprinkled walnuts. They retain quite a lot of moisture and are always popular at Christmas.

Thanks Tyke!

I wish the same to you and yours - and to all PIA members, one and all!

25oC sounds perfect to me! It looks like we're having a wet Christmas this year. Mustn't grumble; it'll be our last English one for a few years to come, so it can rain or hail or snow or blow as much as it likes for me!

lotsa love! xx

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to every-one.

Keep safe on your travels.

Kris those biscuits sound lovely, you know I like my sweets.:jiggy:

:smile:I finished making them last night and have a few deliveries in the next few days......they are divine if I say so myself. We will have to organise a coffee catch up or something soon, otherwise they will all be gone......

Might have a go at making some of these

[h=3]Melomakarona Greek Christmas Cookies[/h][h=4][/h]INGREDIENTS

2 cups oil

1 cup sugar

1 cup orange juice

1 cup fine semolina

1 kilo soft flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

Lemon and Orange zest

Simple syrup: (In a pot, mix together 1 cup each of water, honey and sugar and bring to boil while stirring constantly.)

Crushed walnuts

Preheat oven to 200c

  1. Beat oil well with mixer, then add the sugar, both zests, orange juice, semolina, and then, a little at a time, the flour mixed with the baking soda.
  2. Form the dough into small shapes, as the pastries will get quite big while baking. Make sure the oven is hot before baking, otherwise the pastries will flatten. Bake for about 30 minutes until pastries are firm and golden brown.
  3. When completely cooled, arrange in rows in a pan and pour warm syrup over them. Sprinkle with crushed walnuts.

These are the ones that I made.....can definitely recommend them - I've not tried them without Brandy (that's in the ingredients not for the cook!).
