Any respiratory nurses in or around Adelaide?

Hi, after Christmas my husband and I are finally getting started on the visa process, we have decided that our best option is the 190 state sponsored visa.

I am a nurse and will be the main applicant/only earner until settled in SA.

My nursing background is 5years in respiratory, although only a short period I love it, I feel I am very experienced in respiratory nursing and as a first instance I would love to continue this field of nursing in SA.

I am also currently doing an advanced respiratory disorders post graduate course at university to further my training and knowledge and enable me to apply for respiratory practioner roles.

I have looked at the usual websites for nursing jobs in SA but not came across many if any respiratory jobs, I have noticed tho that there appears to be several respiratory type clinics in and around Adelaide, do any nurses already working in SA know much about these?

I have also noticed many respiratory related jobs come back to flinders medical centre where they seem to have clinics and outreach teams in respiratory.

Do you think it is worthwhile contacting these departments personally even if no jobs are advertised? Sending my CV to various hospitals with interest in respiratory roles?

Thankyou and reading back I apologise for the amount of times I've written respiratory!!:biglaugh:

Hi,

I'm not in respiratory but am a nurse in a specialist area and I know some other uk nurses also in different specialist areas, and it is certainly worth getting in touch with the nurse in charge of the specialist unit as sometimes they will know of up coming vacancies and seem keen on experienced uk nurses, but you would probably need the visa and an arrival date for them to take much notice.

Personally speaking, nursing in Adelaide is a joy compared to Edinburgh, it's worth the move :)

good luck, gill x

Thankyou Gill, that's just what I was thinking. I see we have 1year once receiving our visas to validate so I think I will spend that year contacting lead nurses, head of departments, hospitals directly etc and if within that year I don't get anywhere then we'll move with no jobs and hope for the best! (scary thought).

Im from Glasgow so can only imagine the difference in Adelaide compared to Glasgow and Edinburgh nursing!! :)
