outdoor cat enclosures

    Recommended Posts

Hi, when we move we will be bringing 4 cats over and dont want to annoy the neighbours and want to see how they are going to cope with being in australia. We have heard that cat runs/enclosures are a good idea, we wondered if anyone could recommend where we could go to without spending thousands of $'s!!! Any info would be greatly appreciated! x

There is this sort of thing

You can also get a roller thing to go on top of fences so they are confined to your garden (shown in one of the links above). I rather like these as it means cats can remain on the property and so long as they can't climb a tree to jump over the fence or something they should be fine. Metal panel fencing is used mostly and the rollers go on the top.

Be aware some councils have by laws about the number of cats you can keep etc. Mitcham has them I know, have a read of their info page so you get an idea

Also some areas have cat curfews etc so can't go out at night or some such (although doesn't seem to be so many as in other states from what I can gather in my reading). Also if renting there may be a limit to the number you can keep.

Cats are evil.......I can vouch for that as we have 3 of them!! We've got 2 old girls (15 & 16) and a 2 year old boy, all Siamese with boy being Siamese cross Oriental. All are house cats and used to go out on leads however an enclosure in Australia seems to be a good compromise. We back onto woodlands and have seen loads of wildlife being killed off due to neighbours cats, as said cats are evil and born hunter and don't blame the local Australian councils for having limitations.
