Will UK light work in Oz?

We have a "novelty" light in our daughters bedroom (light on the ceiling not a lamp). If we were to bring it with us would it work in Oz, would any spark even touch it or am I just being daft?

How about UK light shades for the ceiling - will they fit light fittings in Oz?

Removals coming this week and the wife is now throwing questions at me that I know nowt about.

Any help appreciated.

Yes all electrical things work in OZ with a different plug on the end. If it is a uk plug and built in transformer bring over a travel adaptor.

standard plastic lamp holders will fitt UK lamp shades.

Bring as much stuff as you can even if you think you will never need it, as one day you will or wish you had it.

If you rent to start with then you will not be able to use the light as you are not allowed to make changes to a rental. And lots of newer places have halogen downlights or lights in overhead fans so you wouldn't be able to put the light on instead even if you were allowed to. And light shades would be just as pointless in a newer house for the same reason. I'd still being them though cos if you don't you can garauntee you will end up somewhere where you could use them and you will regret not bringing them.

Hi,

I brought over a lovely Next light fitting with me, brand new in the box. When we built our house we wired it into the lounge. Since sold the house and had to leave it but yes you can bring it with you.

We had light fittings left in most rooms which suit the house but not necessarily what I would have chosen - I brought 2 nice wrought-iron and glass chandeliers and luckily had just 2 places to use them - the spare bedroom and the rumpus room. We had several table lamps and just changed the plugs on them or used adapters (got a bagful from Ned's).
