Hi I'm currently a community staff nurse with two years experience, hoping to come out in July (paper work willing) although I'm currently community based I wouldn't mind being based in a hospital

    Hi Chelsea86,

Thanks for your thread :) I am a RMN and have got a locum post with HCA. They have said that I will be ''turning away shifts'' is this true? I am so worried about not having FT hours as I will be the only earner of the two of us on arrival. Hopefully you can put some of my worries at bay? :(

    Thank you ,

    Laura. x

    Hi Laura,

I know it's worrying but it's true, you will be "turning away shifts". HCA are the largest nursing agency in Australia with offices in each state. HCA are the only agency in Adelaide.

    You'll have a great time Laura x

    Hi Chelsea,

I am an RMN and am interested in working in Australia. I qualified in 1997 and have lots of experience and have worked in QLD before (for about 6 months). I have been out of nursing for 3 years , running my own mental health support service but am in process of renewing my UK registration and will be doing some casual shifts on the local acute ward. Am really keen to go and would love some advice - re registration with APRHA, sponsorship etc. Any help you can offer, gratefully received !

    thanks Debbie

    Hi Chelsea86,

I know experience is the key thing I will need but I shall be qualifying this Sept 2013 and would ideally like to work on an acute medical ward.. I have just had a fantastic placements on a medical assessment unit and on my elective I put down A and E and MAU. So... leading question.... what do you think are my chances after a couple months experience if I start looking for jobs?
