Hi all,

We are John and Sarah and this is the first message we have posted (just joined). We are in the final stages (hopefully) of our visa and should be getting it any day now. Medicals were sent off four weeks ago and from what we have read from other people's messages, it seems you get your visa about three to four weeks after your medical has arrived in Australia. Is that correct?

We currently live near Swindon and are just waiting for the sale of our house to go through (everything is happening at once!). As soon as we have our visa and the sale of our house is complete, we will be heading to Adelaide, hopefully within the next six weeks. Planning to go on Singapore Airlines as they seem to do a good one way deal (40 kg luggage allowance per passenger).

We are feeling nervous and excited at the same time about the move. We are doing it for a better life (hopefully) for us and our children. We want much more of an outdoor, active life than we have here, and to escape the cold winters and grey days of England!

Fingers crossed we get our visa soon as we are so wanting to get out there now.

Hi John and Sarah,

I'm glad it's all coming together for you.I was just about to go tobed as its 1.30 am and I should have gone to bed ages ago but I was kind of hoping the cool change would come in beforehand. We have just had 15 days of temps 35 degrees upwards....and I think everyone is hanging out for the cool change. You will certainly be able to have an outdoor life here, in mid winter it is dark by 5.30pm and although it can be cold in the winters it doesn't last long and thereis still plenty to do. There is not a lot of coat wearing in winter, except for watching sport or fashion. my daughter in her last yr at primary refused to wear trackpants( too daggy for words) and wore shorts and her school windcheater all yr.

Good luck with your final preparations.

Rachel

Hi John and Sarah,

Welcome to PIA:)

Singapore Airlines are our chosen airline as well - we have made quite a few trips back to the UK for family visits as well.

Good luck on your journey here.

hello and welcome to pia :wubclub:

i think 'the visa getting after medicals have been sent' depends if you've got a CO already.

we've sent everything off but we haven't got a CO just yet - but ever the positive i believe we'll go straight to visa. might just take a little longer!!

and it seems that you'll do it all for very similar reasons why we'd like to go to adelaide!

good luck!

All hail the mighty singapore airlines..... great sevice, and they fly direct from singapore to adelaide 7 days a week. When you are in the position to go back for a holiday, or to see family Singapore airlines flies straight to Manchester without going via Heathrow, if you're from the North or midlands. One time Hubby went back I booked him Singapore airlines to Paris, then easyjet straight into Liverpool. Singapore is definitely worth a stopover.
