Rapid Bay camping

Morning All!

 

Just wondering if anyone has camped at Rapid Bay? We are planning on going for this weekend. The weather is supposed to be good so hoping to be able to do some beach swimming.

 

Just read a few things about the campsite saying it gets really packed and lots of people with generators going all night and wondering if we would be better off else where? Any thoughts?

we went last weekend. Sea was lovely to cool down, as it was very hot, flat, calm, goes deep fairly quickly, beach is very small stones. Fishing was excellent form the jetty!

Campsite was pretty crowded, noise only went on till just before 3am! but it was on the other side of the campsite to us, so not too bad, however, loud dawn chorus thanks to nature then started for about half an hour about 6.30am

 

There are not really any facilities, so take everything with you. There are flushing toilets, that appear to be checked regularly, but the taps don't work overly well and there is no soap and stuff, so very basic. there some community BBQ's, but didn't use them.

 

Kids had a good time, Would I go again? I would but not in a hurry.

Hiya, We camped at Rapid bay a couple of weeks ago. There was a couple of generators going but only in the day and for about 20 mins. The beach is fab just full of pebbles, just wear thongs and you will be fine. The only other thing is there are now showers, there is one in the middle of the camp site but really just used for rinsing off the sand. We had a great time and would definitely be using it again. We went last year to rapid bay, we had a great time and the kids loved the little park there .

Have fun . No showers but we boiled the kettle and had washes in the tent!!!
