Resident Return Visa

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right place or not!

 

Our visa expires in August this year and we have a wedding to go to in November in Las Vegas so we are going to spend a couple of weeks in different parts of America.

 

I know that we need to apply for a resident return visa.

 

Can anyone tell me if this is simple and are you guaranteed to get it? Is it as simple as walking into the office in the city and walking out with it?

 

I tried searching the forum but the posts were really old.

Can't help but if you don't get a reply on it here its always worth posting over on our sister site Poms in Oz in the Migration forum. Its a lot busier over there and more people likely to know the ins and outs of what you are asking.

i have done it a couple of times usualy just send pasport away and it comes back with the return visa in it.

Thanks - why don't you go for citizen ship, not eligible or other reasons?

Yes it is that simple, you walk into the office in Currie St, fill out the form, wait to be seen, pay and they print out the new sticker and put it in your passports.
