Hi all,

Just a quick question, we did a lot of walking in the UK and always had Ordnance Survey maps for wherever we went. We don't seem to be able to find anything similar for Australia, does anyone know what is the equivalent here? Now it is getting cooler we can't wait to get walking.

Thanks

Ang

Thanks everyone for your responses. We are looking for proper walking maps like the ordnance survey ones in the UK. We want to teach our kids some proper map reading skills this winter as our oldest is getting ready to do the Duke of Edinburgh's award.

Found the following, thanks to everyones posts:

any suggestions of where we could get a 1:25000 would be great.

There is a really good map shop in the city - it is in Peel Street, one of the little back lanes http://www.mapshop.net.au/

It is the best place we found for maps and advice about maps, but bear in mind that with the size of Australia, a lot of large scale maps would have very little on them! I think they do large scale maps of some areas, but not all. If anywhere has what you need, they will!
