Solar ! Is it a no brainer ?

Recommended Posts

Nah! - it goes all Tartan....................mate.

One thing on this though Tyke and this is the downfall as far as environmentally friendly goes with grid connected systems remember grid connected systems save nothing on generation. The companies still have to generate a average output as they cannot rely on solar generation and if they get s high feed in what they generate gets vented as steam. Electricity in generation cannot be stored as such. It's the downfall with grid connected systems they save no output on generation which means no real environmental savings. Now battery storage systems are different as if everyone was on these storing as they generate and off the grid then the supply output can be reduced. But these systems are far more expensive.

Gee, you two must be good at Chess! Your closing in on the "checkmate" LC :notworthy:

Would Tyke be the queen?

Ok then, final move?

According to NOAA and backed up in Green Illusions by Zehner the solar photovoltaic industry emits (amongst other things) these three gases, each of which have a greater warming potential than carbon dioxide. They are:

Hexafluoroethane 12,000 x the warming potential of CO2

Nitrogen trifluoride 17,000 x

Sulphur hexafluoride 23,000 x

 Maybe it's not such a good idea after all!

And I suppose once you've added in all the energy expended in making the systems in the first place.....
