Got the news today we got OAA! Takes the preasure of for a few weeks. It is in Jacklin Road Novar Gardens. Dose anyone know anything about the area as we can't get it up on Google earth? Cheers Ali

I got the road up on multimap. looks quite near the golf course and not too far from the beaches of Glenelg and Henly..but then when you get there maybe it will feel longer travelling times!!

to answer your questions yes we did give them 6 weeks notice but they only let us know we had got it this am and morgan flys on 11 april (2 weeks on friday aghhhhhhhhh). Me and the kids folow on the 17 may.

You dont get a choice as to where it will be, You fill in where you are intrested in living and they recon to put you in that locality. We however put the north east??? dosent seem to fit but we are not bothered just greatfull to have it.

Novar Gardens is a nice suburb. 10 - 15 mins to the city on the tram and the same to Glenelg. To the north there is a golf course, and an oval to the south. Anzac Highway ( not a main highway, just a big road) runs beside it taking you into town, or Glenelg. The schools in this area are ok. Soggy is in this type of accommodation in this suburb now so he may be able to help you more.

i'm in OAA in Novar Gardens at the moment, in Morthpett Road, it is easy to get to the city by car or bus, and not far from the beach. I will try to find Jacklin Road and take a look for you, When are you coming ? if you pm me your email I could send you a couple of photo's of the street.

I had a walk down Jacklin road today, it seems a nice area in genral, unlike us you are away from the main road (Morphett road ) so you won't have any traffic noise. most of the surrounding area is very well kept, one end of Jacklin road is not as nice as the rest of the area, but not to bad. About 2 minutes walk the is a small park with a small play area (for small kids) walk another minute and you are at a parade of shops, a post office to pay your rent and bills, a supermarket, butcher, hairdresser, cafe, cooked chicken shop and a pharmacy. Your just a few minutes from bus stops that will take you to the city, shoping centers or the beach.

 

If you pm me your email i will send you a couple of photos of the street and a map so you can find it on google earth, if you give me the door number I wil send a photo of your unit. If your prepaired for basic and a little dated inside any surprises you have should be pleasant ones.

Thanks for that we are at no 6. The kids will love to have photos of were we are going it will really help them. Morgan starts flying 2 weeks tomorrow. He will be on his own for ablut 5 weeks and then we land:arghh:.

We are hoping to move to Adelaide in the next couple of months, but are still awaiting our visa which we should hopefully get any day now.

 

We are interested in applying for OAA. Our question is, can you apply for it before you actually get your visa, or do you have to wait until you have got your visa?

Apr ’07 – Teaching skills approved.

May 21st ’07 – Applied for South Australia sponsorship online.

July 12th ’07 – Received sponsorship from South Australia.

July 20th ’07 – Online visa application sent off.

Oct 30th ’07 – Case officer allocated.

Nov 20th ’07 – Medicals done and police checks sent.

Feb 18th ’08 – Medical done for our new baby.

ohhhh I don't know that one Sarah.

You certainly have to have your flights booked as they want a flight no. on the booking form. You can only book 6 weeks in advance and they only let you know 3 weeks befor you fly so I guess it might be advisable to wait for your visa.

Hi, you know you said that you have to give 6 weeks notice and they let you know 3 weeks before you fly, is that 3 weeks in the 6 weeks or in total 9 weeks, we have our visa and havn't booked flights yet but were hoping to fly around mid May and use the OAA, we are booking the flights on 4 April, for mid May are we too late to use this service?

No I think it is 3 weeks before you travel so just 6 weeks in total.

 

We applied, heard back we had got it, and then were asked to confirm 10 days before arrival that we still wanted it. When we did that we were given the address but it was very last minute and quite stressful.

 

In hindsight, I should have booked something like the properties GuzzlerandSas, Roo and Tyke have but I didn't. Never mind...
