Singapore Airlines baggage allowance?

Hi all,

 

We were planning to fly to adelaide one-way on Singapore Airlines as we thought they did a special deal for migrants going to Australia by allowing 40kg baggage allowance per person (economy). Having checked with them by sending an e mail, we have just had our hopes dashed. According to Singapore Airlines, the special deal is only for migrants with a PERMANENT visa. As we are going out on a temporary SIR (sponsored) visa, this special deal won't apply to us (how annoying is that?!). I enclose the email they sent to us.

With regards to your query our policy is only for passengers migrating with a visa that states the indefinite stay in the country of Australia.

 

As mentioned below your documents only support a stay of 3 years, unfortunately this does not meet the requirement as per our policy. In that case you would only be eligible for the normal 20 kilos as checked in allowance and 7 kilos cabin luggage with a personal item, for example camera case , laptop, etc.

 

Any extra baggage would be at the discretion of the airport authorities.

Not quite sure what to do now as having our expected baggage allowance cut by half is something we hadn't counted on! Anyone know of any other airlines that DO do special deals for migrants on temporary visas?
