private medical insurance to get a 457 visa

    Recommended Posts

After several weeks of faffing about by my new employer, I have been told that I now have to take out a private medical insurance policy before my visa application can be submitted. I assume I only need a short term policy as I understand I can get medicare cover as soon as we arrive - can anyone advise on the best way to get cover? it seems a nonsense to me but I suppose I have to do it if I am ever to get a visa!

Thanks Blossom, we have travel insurance but that will run out in November so might have to renew. sitthewindows, did you take a short term policy out specifically or was it a policy you already had in place?
