I have been looking around this site at people talking about printing jobs and the general consences is that the pay is not that good.I am a fully qualified gravure printer of 17 years and since being made redundant in Dec06 have retrained as a offset lithographic printer.I am hopeing to move to adelaide at the end of this year on a tempory skilled visa 475 with my wife and children and the area we are looking to settle in is Halletts Cove.I have been looking at Finsbury green printers and have seen that they have some vacancys but i feel that i cannot apply as it could be another 7 months before my visa is granted. Is there anyone else out there that can give me any other print companys/contacts,at present i am on double days paying £24k,permenant nights £30k,how does this compare with wages there, and do you pay more tax.regards Dean.

Wage vary so much from one company to another. If you have trade papers you will be on a better rate - hubby is a print finisher - he is now on $6 an hour MORE with his new company than the old one. He has fallen really lucky as his company seem to pay over the odds - the big companies don't necessarily pay more! You get 20% extra for afternoon shifts and 30% extra for nights- but there aren't many companies out there that do a night shift.
