Any decent shoe shop will measure, even sports shoe shops. Myer is a department store, so yes there is one in the Myer Centre but also at shopping centres such as Marion, Tea Tree Plaza. The TTP store is limited in stock - especially for boys. Wards shoe shop in Norwood are very good (as is Carapella's mentioned by some-one else) and there is a specialist children's shoe shop on Melbourne St in Nth Adelaide, if you want labels.

Real Christmas trees become available all over the place closer to Xmas. There are Christmas tree farms in the Adelaide Hills, but you will also see them in petrol stations. If you are south there is a farm in Happy Valley and more north there is one at Forreston near Gumeracha. Just Google Christmas tree farm Adelaide.

Don't you know - they guess just like they do with their kids eyesight!!

No one seems to measure feet just as no kids seem to get their eyes checked - explains the driving though!

If you did order from Clark's in the UK check to see if they have the measurement thing on their site. Or if you plan to order them on a regular basis, order one if their measuring kits for about £8. They way you should end up with the right size and width every time.

You can get a Clarks measuring gauge from Clarks Australia www.clarks.com.au

They were $5 each with free delivery a few months ago. It is also possible to order shoes direct from them.

There is a shoe shop in Blackwood that always measures and a large shop at O'Halloran Hill, on Main South Road.

I remember checking the Clark's Au site before we left to see what range they had and being very underwhelmed at the range of shoes on offer. Great if you want actual more formal shoes but limited if you wanted something less formal.

Kids seem to wear anything sneaker wise on their feet to school (at least primary where we go) and while I don't mind my son wearing a trainer type shoe I don't want him in trainers every day. We have a great Clark's UK trainer type shoe ATM and I hope to stick with that sort if thing for as long as possible. Clark's Au doesn't offer more than 1 pair of that type (without laces) in their school shoe dept. Take one over none though but I am looking round for decent alternative brands/stockists for his feet so will check out other places mentioned :)

Thanks soooo much for all your answers - Today I went to David Jones in the Westield. I came out with a very happy 7 year and a pair of newly measured shoes for him. The staff in there were brilliant. Simply fanastic service.

    Thanks Poms in Adelaide :)
