Documents from ANMAC to AHPRA help

    Recommended Posts

    Happy new year everyone!

We lodged our visa 190 on the 20/12/13 and I am starting my AHPRA registration, I have asked ANMAC to forward my validated documents onto them, but I'm not sure what documents they send? Do I still need to send identity documents (passport, driving licence and marriage certificate)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Have you read the requirements on the APHRA website?

Not sure that ANMAC can forward documents, you should get them yourself, have certified copies made, and forward everything together with your application. All details on supporting documentation can be found at http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-and-Endorsement/Supporting-Documentation.aspx

This is under proving identity for overseas applicants - this is the type of documentation you seem to be asking about.

    1. At application, individuals who are applying from overseas and who are unable to provide evidence fromeach of the categories, must meet the minimum identity requirements of:

    • a certified copy of an overseas passport (an EU card is not acceptable)
    • if the applicant has ever been formally known by another name, or provides documentary evidence in
support of their application in another name — a certified copy of proof of name change (marriagecertificate, divorce papers, deed poll).
Applications from overseas applicants will be assessed only on receipt of the relevant evidence of identity, and an otherwise complete application (all supporting documentation provided and declarations made).
Following assessment the applicant will be advised if they are eligible for registration. Those eligibleapplicants who only provided the minimum identity requirements, and/or medical practitioners applying forlimited registration (see below) will only be granted registration upon personal presentation at an AHPRAOffice with the following evidence:

If arrived in Australia within the previous 6 weeks:

o original foreign passport or travel document with current Australian visa and proof of date

of arrival (e.g. entry stamp); plus

o evidence of their current residential address, an original signed statement from a

prospective employer/sponsor verifying the identity of the applicant OR an original offer of

    employment.

If arrived in Australia more than 6 weeks prior to attendance — evidence that meets the requirements

    in Categories A, B, C and D.

Hi Liz, I also asked ANMAC to forward my documents to AHPRA, but I never received any correspondence from them to say if they will or about what they would send! So I sent everything required, just to be on the safe side. I strongly recommend you do the same as it would prevent any avoidable delays & if they have duplicates its a bonus!! Best of luck, Mandi x

    Thanks Mandi!

Thats the answer I was looking for, I know which documents to send but wasn't sure what ANMAC had sent!? Guess I'll send all the documents anyway then. I've read some of your posts in the past and have been very helpful. Your very close too going, how are your plans going? We hop to be there in August.

Thank you, I'm glad they are useful, it feels great to be able to finally help others who are where I once was!!

We're set to go as soon as our property sells, which can't be soon enough! We have a shipping company assigned for all our household contents & I've fortunately got a job to go to at the RAH which was meant to commence on Feb 3rd, however they have kindly agreed to allow me to defer my start date to March, just to allow us more time, which is very co-operative of them. So if property doesn't sell before then I'll probably head out alone & Leigh will follow afterwards.

How did you find your reccie visit? did you decide where you intend to live?

Hello to all , I'm new to poms in adelaide but have been chatty on poms in oz over last year :) , thought I would join here as Adelaide is where I want to emigrate too . I'm currently awaiting Anmac assessment 6 weeks in so probably a minimum of 10 to go! Will need to redo IELTs - general for visa points , and will then do EOi 189 and the dreaded Aphra. I have been keeping an eye on all the nursing posts on here , so thanks for sharing all your experiences and info because it really helps.

    Mandi,

Reccie was fantastic! Hottest day was when we drove to moonta bay...42c! Lots of research, schools, hospitals, houses etc. We initially thought seaford, as a lot of people do, but knowing there are more hospitals for our job prospects are central and north, we are considering gawler and Evanston. Given commuting times and the fact that the New Royal Adelaide hospital is being built on North Terence is seems wise to be where the jobs are. Although that could change, depending on where we actually get a job.

I have to say the staff at the RAH are extremely nice and welcoming, maybe I'll go there too!

    Welcome Toodolou!

Welcome Toodolou, I would suggest getting on with your AHPRA application ASAP, I wish I'd started mine sooner then I did as it took the longest and unless you have any restrictions on when you'd like to go you can start it now. Good luck, Mandi x

Hi Kev & Liz, we love Seaford too, we have friends who live there, but as you say it's a little too far out to commute, unless you get work at Flinders, but I visited there when on my reccie & the area I work in didn't have any forthcoming vacancies anticipated for a while. So we're staying closer to the city in Melrose Park, which is ideal for us being 20 mins from the city, the beach & the hills.

Once I'm there if I can help you with any of your research just let me know & I'll try my best to get any info you need, Mandi x

    Hi Kev and Liz,

My AHPRA application is being processed at the moment and I requested that ANMAC send across all my documentation. I had an email yesterday from case worker to say they had received it all and are looking at it, hope that's helpful

I have one question, the part that asks for three identification documents from sections A B & C, It states in A: Overseas passport with valid visa......but I don't have my visa yet?!

I read an old post on Poms in Oz that you can still apply and once you land in OZ, you just go to the local AHPRA office with your visa and they then issue you with your pin. Is this right?

    Hi Kev and Liz,

Don't worry about the visa bit, havnt got mine either yet, Think they send you a letter of eligibility and just take it to the office when arrive. AHPRA Received my application 4th Dec 2013 and they are half way through my application so timings don't seem too long, hope that helps X

    Hi all,

Im only.4 months post qualified as an adult nurse and currently working on a very busy medical assessment unit and trying to soak in as much experience as I can. I am due some annual leave next week and will be starting the process of ANMAC and may ask you for some advice If i hit a brick wall !!

We shall be looking at a migration specialist, my daughter is 18 in april so we want someone to help make sure we hit no hurdles and because im 43 the points system is not quite as kind to us. I have been advised that Adelaide would not touch me as they stipulate 3 years experience first! I prey I can get around this somehow, mynheRt has been set on Adelaide and dont want to startblooking elsewhere. Has anyone heard of others whonhave managed to gain employment early post qualifying ??? Im not totally blinkered and dont believe i can walk into a job easily, we are just so desperate to get out there, we have wanted this for so many years now...

Hope anyone will be ale to helpmus along the way,

    Thanks,

    Hi Cherries002,

Given your situation I think some advise from a migration agent would be good. I have only been a qualified Midwife for 2 years and would be able to find employment, although that said I have gone for a 190 PR. How many points do you have? Are you looking to be employer sponsored for extra points? Do you have any other qualifications?

I hope you can find a solution/answers :swoon:

Hi, I don't know if this is of any help but I have 15 years work experience as a paediatric nurse (specialising in neonates) but because i've always worked part time, due to childcare , I didn't qualify for the 5 work experience points. So we had to change our visa from a 190 state nominated to the 189 independent and make up the points with my IELTS test as i get extra points if level 8 and over. Nat.

Hi, it looks like we are at similar levels with our application process so it might be nice if we could share experiences?!?! I posted my ANMAC application off in January and so when that comes back will put in our EOI. I just had to redo my IELTS on sat as I only got a 7 in the writing and I need to get 8 in everything in order to get the extra points for the visa as I don't get the work experience points I thought I'd get, as although I've worked as a nurse for 15 years I've only been part time because of child care!! Fingers crossed it all goes ok for us!! Nat.

    Hi Nat and Toodolou

Just reading your posts and wanted to say hang in there. I can remember feeling in the thick of it with transcripts, employment history's, professional references blah blah. and being on the phone to the most unhelpful staff at the uni's trying to get what you need. I struggled and went to NMC for help and they were great. Know one ever tells you about the work experience criteria of 20hrs a week for 5 years to get the point on this, it should be made clearer. Nat I hear you, going part time is what you had to do for your family and it just feels like they don't take your whole experience into consideration. IETLS is just a test to see if you really want to do this, so prove to them it is. When you get your LOD, get ANMAC to send AHPRA all your information and apply asap, It again takes a while, they have had mine since 4th Dec 2013 and I'm still waiting, I'm flying out 10th March and proposing to work from mid April so it better get a move on ! The day you get your visa it will all be worth it, good luck guys X

Hi , yes i didnt know about the 20 hr work experience criteria of 5 yrs at all so thanks for sharing, and i thought i had read very ANMAC /Ahpra online info there is! clearly theres more! Yes im feeling a bit deflated and overwhelmed at times , the ANMAC told me that the NMC sent a verification, letter of good standing snd general nursing curriculum to them but they still asked me to try and get this hours of theory / placement info from the university. When i phone uni all i get is passed from pillar to post , i have emailed the senior admin and no reply!! i will give it a week because its half term and contact them again. ANMAC havent given me a time deadline yet so thats ok. Is there anything else the NMC could send for me do you think? im just hoping things will just sort themselves out soon , i really dont think the uni are going to do anything. With all the nurses moving to oz ... they must have been asked for this info before.

Good luck with Ahpra , surely if people have positive ANMAC assessment , Ahpra will allow registration. when im in that position i will get ANMAC send docs to Ahpra , im sure it will be worth it in the end. Which office did you send your Ahpra to? How exciting you will soon be in oz , where are you planning to live in adelaide/ work? good luck with everything :)

Hi , good luck , hope you your registration soon . Have Ahpra asked for anything else since there changes like ' pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics ' evidence of training ? which is on their new standards? . Yes once it's all through I will ask ANMAC to pass on docs to Ahpra . Wow not long until the 10th you will be flying out soon! Let me know what Flinders is like ... it will be on my hit list !! What type of nursing are you hoping to do ? I like the sound of all those areas you mention to live , they seem to be quite popular places to settle on here . How old are your kids ? Since starting the process , mine have both stated a lot recently they don't want to move ! I have 12 and 8 yr old boys. Good luck with everything ;)
