Car dealers and part exchange

    Recommended Posts

Does anybody know if car dealers take my used car (Hyundai Getz 2010) in part exchange in case I purchase a car with that particular car dealer?

For example, a Mazda 2 Neo at the Mazda car dealer.

I want them to accept my used car as part payment because I need a car to commute and can't afford to sell it myself privately.

Any experience and advise highly appreciated.

    Hey Rabeah!

I think you can do part exchange on cars here but why do you want to do it that way?? seriously you will get much less for your car doing it this way......i would suggest having a look round for a new car you like and then put your car on to gum tree, car sales, on here etc and you'll hopefully sell it within a few days, then you go get the new one......

Yes you can, its more or so called "Trade in" here. but Claire is correct, your probally looking at 20-40% less than if you were to sell it yourself.

Thanks for your replies. You're absolutely right, car dealers rip people off, but I'm in the situation that I need my car as a working tool (several clients in different areas every day, so I can't change to the public transport). I'd better take time off when I sell my car because it's not affordable for me buying a new one and waiting until the old one is sold (I know many Australians do it that way).

Sorry, TonyD, I'm not selling now, I'm just planning ahead. I might purchase another car this autumn/winter.

Maybe work out how much money you would loose not working and how much a cheep hire car would cost for the period
