Oh Well PR is out

Looks like we will have to go out on a sponsorship after all. To qualify for a permanent residency Tracey has to have worked for 12 of the last 18 months. Because of her maternity leave she falls short by 2 weeks. So its either put back the whole thing a year or go out on a sponsorship and then apply to go permanent once we are out there. :( Really didn't want to do that what with health care and other issues. Oh well. Never thought this was going to be straight forward. Things never are for us

Sorry to hear that, it must be really frustrating to be so close to the required time. There are a few regular posters who are using sponsorship I'm sure they'll be able to advise.

Good luck

Jen :D

We are going over on an SIR495 which is a sponsored temp visa. We will have the same medicare health benefits as perm visa holders thanks to the reciprocal agreement with the uk.

Schooling is also the same, you can buy a house etc. Don't be put off by people putting down a temp visa - it still gets you to OZ! 8)

If you are unsure of any aspects of a sponsored visa just shout as there are quite a few of us on this site that have or are applying for one :D

Thanks for the replies and assurances.

We had originally planned to go the sponsored route but then decided it will be more hassle as we will have to go through it all again to make it permanent. :? The thing that bugs me is the fact we fall short by a mere 14 days. :x

As you say it will get us there and that is the aim at the end of the day. :D

Thanks again

Pete
