I have very recently decided that I would love to travel the world, starting with beautiful Australia. Very luckily for me I have some close family friends in Adelaide who are happy to put me up while I find my feet, however I cannot stay there forever and I would really appreciate any advice and tips and recommendations on good places to stay and where I can go about finding a job...any information will be greatly appreciated :)

Travelling the world is something everyone should do. When I was on my whv I found Adelaide the hardest place to get work, but that was many years ago now. Sydney was the easiest.

If you stay at backpacker hostels you will meet loads of people and get lots of tips on where to go and what places are best for work. It can be a bit limiting on a whv as you can only work 6 months in each job.

You will have a great time though. Make sure you travel around and don't just get stuck working the whole time. Australia is an amazing country with so much to see.

A WHV is pretty straightforward. Have funds to support yourself and access to money should you need to jump on a plane out of Aus.

You can only work for 6 months for an employer. That is all.

If you do your 3 months regional work you can qualify for a second year stay. All of south Australia is classed as regional but you need to ensure the actual work you do meets the requirements, ie fruit picking would, working in an office as a secretary or admin person would not.

Apply for a WHV via the AUS immigration site. It's not that expensive and is usually granted within a few days.
