:jiggy:Yippeeeeee we are finally Poms in Adelaide!!!!!!

We arrived yesterday after a tiring 23 hour flight via Singapore, which went smoothly with commendable service throughout from Singapore airlines. The sun was shining & all the stress & anxiety seemed to have immediately dispersed in the air, as already we feel so much more relaxed!!

Just changing the location on my profile is something I've been waiting to do since joining lol...another box ticked!!!!!

So our temporary home is in Melrose Park & today is the 1st day of our new lives here & we would like to express our appreciation to every single PIA member for their support, help, input, tips, advice & guidance which has undoubtedly been paramount to our successful journey so far, thanku & G'day!!!!

Welcome to Adelaide. Great weather for your arrival.

Watch out for road closures this week due to Clipsal this weekend, it will all open up again next week.

There is going to be a huge floating turtle thingy hovering over the botanic gardens Saturday - not to be missed.

Welcome home Mandi & Leigh!

Don't know if it's a bit soon but some of us are meeting for a bbq/picnic on sunday if you wanted to come along?

Ooohh take no notice of the 'oldies' tag......it has just grown to mean an adults only meet!

Congrats on arrival and going though with 'it'. We are at least 6 months, maybe 12, behind you........

If you had a choice of arriving in Nov 14 or March 15, would there be an obvious winner???

I'd say it would depend on you finances, if you do not already have jobs to come it would be difficult to get anything over christmas, Australia tends to "shut down" or at least drastically slow down from november to febuary every year.

Usually people advise having enough money saved to get you through the first 6 months with no income, i guess if you arrived in november you might need to count the 6 months from febuary.......

The summer arrives every year! :biglaugh:

Hi there,

Thanks for replying in such detail. Really useful information and I should start buying some UK lottery tickets; missed the £108 million that a couple just won. Now that would change your options!!!

Thanks again for your time and help.

Hi McLs:

I'd say for newly arrived Brits, probably March 15 would be the best time to arrive. This will give you a couple of months before Winter sets in (June, July and August), to get a taste of the lovely weather to come after Winter. Adelaide Autumns are gorgeous (March, April and May), as are Springs (September, October, November). Adelaide Summers are a different kettle of fish altogether for newcomers (December, January, February) so I suggest you come in either Spring or Autumn, to give you time to acclimatise. Having said that, whichever month you decide to come, you'll cope very well, I'm sure. I wish you well!! x

Apologies for my delayed reply, but I would say March is most definitely a more favourable time to come & many other people I've met here who arrived before Xmas agree with me. We could have come over in Nov last year, but as it was so close to Xmas, we decided to stay & spend it with family & friends & deferred until March when the weather was cooler. As mentioned above the weather this time of year is great, with tolerable temperatures enabling you to gradually acclimatise to the hot weather, instead of arriving in the midst of a long season of mad heat. Plus there's so much to do here in March, its known as "Mad March" with lots going on about the city, such as the Fringe festival, Clipsal 500 racing amongst many others, so its a great opportunity to see how the city lives up to its title of "festival state".

Best of luck with your plans, Mandi x
