Hi

We've just arrived from the Uk and are currently renting a property in Port Noarlunga. We need to purchase a small pickup/utility vehicle for my husband and a family car.

Could anyone recommend a good second hand car dealer or if anyone knows of anyone selling one privately.

Many thanks

Lorraine

Just look around - there are plenty to choose from. All depends on your budget.

As to recommendations, the guy in Morphett Rd, Warradale is one to be avoided. Sold a cut and shut to someone on here I believe.

[h=3]South Australia[/h]When you buy from a dealer, a car that costs more than $6000 carries a three-month/5000 km statutory warranty. If it costs between $3001 and $6000, the warranty is two months/3000 km. Cars that cost less than $3000, are older than 15 years or have travelled more than 200,000 km don't have to carry a statutory warranty. There's no cooling-off period once you've signed the purchase agreement.

Thank you for your reply. That's interesting to know what warranty you get, depending on how much you spend. I'll read more on the link you sent and it sounds like its worth booking an RAA inspection before purchasing a car.

Also watch out for a dealer who will offer to put a lower price on the sale docket so as you can pay a bit less for rego. All that does is give him a few hundred tax free and untraceable dollars whereas you might save a whopping $20 or so. If they offer this then suggest you split the difference as it will save you a lot more. If they say no then don't do it as you won't lose anything (you'll still be paying the same) whereas they will miss out.
