457 visa and pregnancy healthcare

    Recommended Posts

We are in the process of moving for my husband's job and they are sorting everything out. We received today our bupa healthcare package which states that pregnancy will not be supported for the first year. I take it on a 457 visa we need the bupa to access the public healthcare is that right? I'm getting on a bit don't know if I've got another year to try for #2 😜

If you are from the UK then you can access medicare as soon as you get here. Pregnancy is covered under the recipricol arrangement. Personally I'd rather go public anyway. Even with insurance you end up paying out quite a bit.
