We had a lovely day out yesterday.

We went up to Mannum for the Houseboat Show day.

It really is a lovely place, quite quaint and easy going.

Lots of lovely houseboats on view, quite fancying a holiday on one now.

Some were temptingly for sale as well.

We were lucky enough to have a trip out on the Marion paddle steamer. What a lovely old thing she is.Very relaxing and great to see what is on the river.

It's a different world up there - take time out to go and have a look:):)

Moi??? - no just being cynical & sarcastic!

They will all just be "houses" if the Murray continues to dry.

Ahhh! We were up there for boxing day and the day after...biscuits & wake boarding (I was a spectator with a bad back unfortunately) but we had a great time there...lovely!

Yes, the river level has dropped, but if anyone is thinking of a houseboat holiday, please don't let that put you off - most of the river is still over 15 metres deep and there's plenty of water still in there for a holiday. We went in November and had the nicest holiday, although apparently occupancy levels on the houseboats are way down because everyone hears the news about levels dropping and thinks there won't be enough water in the river! The company we went with are even having to sell up because of this. Do your bit for the Murray and the riverside towns and book a houseboat holiday NOW!

As the wife said...we've just come back from there and had a wicked time...loved it up there. Unlike the wife, my back was fine...can't say my body didn't feel so good the next few days after all the wake boarding etc....great fun and very tiring.

It is a lovely relaxing break, and the wildlife is amazing. Only thing I'd do differently next time is I wouldn't bother getting a boat with an on-deck spa: to heat it up and get it working, you have to run the generator for quite a while, and to be honest, in all that peace and quiet, a chugging genny is the last thing you want! Definitely is worth hiring a couple of canoes to take with you though.

Probably the low occupancy rates at the moment (although I do feel for the operators) mean it's a good time to bargain prices down a bit - always worth a try!
