Furnished v unfurnished 3 bed properties - cost and availability

    Hi,

    We are hoping to move to Adelaide around May or June 2015, relocating from KL for my husband's work. We have hardly any furniture. What is the difference in price/availability of furnished v unfurnished properties in the Eastern Suburbs? We would be looking there first due to proximity to my husband's work. What is generally the standard of furnishing in furnished properties? Do they include TVs generally? Do unfurnished properties include large kitchen appliances like washing machines and fridges? Is there much good second hand furniture available and any recommendations about where to find it?

    For longer leases they are usually unfurnished. They will have a cooker and often a dishwasher. Occasionally there might be a built in fridge freezer too, other than that usually no tv washer etc.

    furnished lets are more expensive and usually shorter leases up to 6 months. Have a look on real estate and domain for properties

    Furnished short term accommodation costs a lot more usually over $550 per week and include all the large appliances and small things like crockery and cutlery. This is good to get a sense of the area and if you like the accommodation.

    Unfurnished accommodation is a lot cheaper but requires a six-12 month signed lease and you need to find your own furniture and small goods.

    K-Mart is good for small things and target is good for bedding. There are second hand shops and new electrical appliances on Port Road Hindmarsh

    You will pay around $550 to $700 for a furnished place and around $350 to $400 for an unfurnished.

    Furnished places should have everything including internet and phone. Check to see what heating and cooling they have.

     

    When we moved here we chose a place that had been around for a while, had great reviews and the owner had spent a lot of money getting their property ready. When we looked around comparing places it was obvious that some places looked and sounded dodgy.

    It's a good idea to have a look to see if the rental business has a licence, an Australian Business Number ( check it here http://abr.business.gov.au/) and whether they can be bothered to spend the money on a website. If they can't be arsed and are out for a quick buck you could get stung.         good day to all,
        We recently moved to Adelaide and are looking for a 2 bedroom rental property on the fringe in Adelaide via the usual property portals, realestate.com.au etc.
        I was wondering if it is acceptable to put in applications for more than one property at one time? Anyways, there is no guarantee that either of my applications will be accepted. Multiple applications at one time can save me waiting time for response and also offer me more options to choose from. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

        Me and my partner are moving to Adelaide from Dubai in the 2nd week of November and are looking for short term (or long term) rental places not too far from the city (with convenient access to public transport).
        Can someone refer some suitable places or websites for a 1 bed or studio rental. It seems that onset of Summer is a peak / busy time and rentals are hard to come by.
        Also, what documents /proof, etc. do I need to get a place on rent? Any suggestions are welcome.

        My partner and I will be moving to Adelaide early 2018 and are trying to narrow down with area to live in when we first arrive. We would probably initially look to signing a short rental agreement of about 6 months before we take the plunge and buy a house. My partner has secured a job as a GP in the Para Hills area and can drive, not usually minding a commute of around 20/25 minutes. I, however, am awkward and cannot drive, so am dependant on public transport. I think we would prefer to be somewhere with a train station for easy and quick transport into the city, as, at least initially, we would love to get into town to sample all the great restaurants. We would like somewhere fairly smart-ish, safe and clean. 
        From the research I have done North Adelaide or Croydon seems to fit the bill. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations which would be best, or even a secret third option? Any heads-up about no-go areas would be greatly appreciated too.
