Hotels around Marion/airport?

Hi everyone, well that's us booked our flights for the 24th March arriving 26th and accommodation for the 29th March - which leaves us with 3 nights with no roof over our heads! Can anyone recommend a hotel near the airport or Marion which is reasonably priced and has family rooms (there is 4 of us). We thought the Marion/airport areas were a good idea for short taxi travel as well as having to sort out tax codes, etc at the Marion Shopping Centre and it isn't too far from the city either. Any advice greatly appreciated. Nearly there!!

There are a fair few around the airport although it's a pretty noisy area and not much around there. Also getting anywhere from a hotel around there might be a pain if using taxi or public transport.

I'd try to find something around Marion (sorry, nothing springs to mind that I know of Marion way) or if nothing suitable there look towards Glenelg way perhaps as its a holiday spot with options of hotels and holiday apartments plus has transport links to Marion and the CBD. You can get your DL done in both Marion and the CBD.. Also your TFN is easy to apply for online once here. Medicare/Centrelink has a big office at Marion but also a smaller branch in Glenelg that is often quicker.

There are hotels, their names came back to me.

Morphett Arms hotel and Warradale inn I think it is. Both not far from Marion mall. Both on busy main roads and have pokies places and sports bars iirc. Will try to find links.

Fwiw, the Warradale one is closer to Marion Westfield, train station and Centrelink. Walking distance. The Moprhett Arms is a bit further away from all those.

Check prices and if you can find similar in Glenelg for around the same I'd suggest considering staying there for a few nights as its a much nicer location, beach and all that close by.

I'd be looking at Glenelg or even the CBD if you are not going to have a car - plenty of choices of hotels in each. There is a new IBiS opened up in the CBD not that long ago on Grenfell street that may be an option http://accorhotels.com.au/accommodation/adelaide-sa/ibis-adelaide. Lots of public transport options from the CBD, and even a bus that goes from the airport to the CBD if you felt that way inclined. Glenelg would have more to keep the kids entertained though.

I'd also be looking at Glenelg if you don't have a car. I'm lazy, but I wouldn't want to walk from the places snifter has suggested. The centerlink office in Glenelg at least is much better than Marion. You are far more Central in Glenelg and it's easy to get to more places from there. And it's nicer. :-)

There is the Big 4 on Sturt Road , which has caravans and lodges and is within walking distance of Marion Westfield and the train station, may find that a cheaper option than a hotel and at least the kids will be entertained with the play area etc.

That'll be this one http://www.marionhp.com.au/ They currently have one 2-bed bungalow left for the dates you need but it'll cost you around $800 for the required three nights. It's a hike from the train station however buses to the city and to Marion stop right outside the gate.

The other one mentioned, Adelaide Shores, is here http://www.marionhp.com.au/ and a 2 bed cabin would cost approx $600. It's further away from everything though.

Either way you'll need a roof but I suggest both these are way better than a room over a pub or a family room in a motel.

Edit: Or maybe look at renting a holiday house. Much more room and not too costly. Something like this one http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/sa/adelaide/seacliff/160808

When we came over on our reccie we stayed at the Comfort Inn on Anzac Highway from the maps it looked easy to get to from the airport on public transport - it wasn't particularly but it was convenient for Glenelg and the tram into the city (and we hired a car). They have family rooms for around $145 a night (there might be sites with deals).

Adelaide Airport at West Beach isn't far, so a taxi would not be expensive, especially for a family. Many years ago I lived on Anzac Highway, it was a good arterial route between the city and Glenelg.
