New mum in Glenelg could really do with some friendly faces!

Hey,

My husband and I and our 4.5 month old little girl have just moved to Glenelg (near Jetty Road). I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment....and would love to meet up with any other mummies in the area to socialise with as well as get to know what's available and where.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hello :)

There is a playgroup not far from you, can find the address and info on it here

http://sacommunity.org/org/214584-Holdfast_Playgroup

Also you can check out the sessions on at Glenelg and Brighton libraries, called Wiggle n Rhyme. Glenelg library is easy to find, at the end of Jetty road near Mosely Sq, on Colley Tce. Could combine it with a nice wander to explore a bit around there. Term time only but schools go back next week so check and it should be starting up soon.

Also SA Aquatic centre is near by at Marion. Lovely pools you and the little one may enjoy. Aquaplay is the name of the baby class

I'm often down that way as have family down there and am happy to meet up and say hello. I'm possibly (probably :cute:) a bit older and my son is at primary school so I'd not have a child with me.

You might just be in time to get into a mothers group. They would just be starting after the Xmas break, and often have people who

dont turn up so you might be able to get a cancelation. Have a Google for your latest CAFHS place and give them a call and explain you have just got here and have your first baby. GREAT way to make friends anyway, but especially if you have just got here. :-)

Hi Soph

Our family arrived last month from Manchester, knowing nobody here! It is overwhelming trying to get a handle on things quickly, especially as you are doing everything with a little one with you.

We are not too far away, at Henley for the time being. My youngest is 2, all still at home as we haven't settled on area or schools yet but happy to meet up somewhere child friendly for a chat and coffee.

Hi Sarah,

Lovely to hear from you! I would love to meet up for a coffee and natter...not sure where to suggest as I'm not hugely familiar with the area yet. We're currently staying on Brighton Road so I've only been up and down Jetty Road a few times. If there's somerwhere you can think of I'd be more than happy to meet you there...I haven't got a car yet so will have to use my legs!!

Hi Julia,

Thanks for your response. It's so reassuring to hear it gets easier and that it now feels like home! Would be lovely to meet up...I'm currently staying on Brighton Road near Jetty Road and don't have a car yet (should have one within a week or so). Let me know where would be good to meet and we can arrange a day/time. Perhaps we could try and meet with Sarah too?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Wigley reserve play park by the marina in Glenelg is not a bad place to meet up and not far for you to walk. Its got a lovely green space and the play park itself is fully fenced in and under a sun sail. Also there are tables and a toilet near by. Then, depending on the children and Mums you could wander to Mosely Square for the fountains and the kids can splash or the new playpark on the foreshore (not fenced in) by the beach in Glenelg. Cafes and other facilities abound there then. Lovely ice cream parlours too ;)

Also there is Wiggly Worms, a soft play not too far away from Jetty Rd. Has a cafe. Its the other side of Anzac highway, so you could just walk on down Brighton Road, cross over Anzac and be there pretty easily.

I saw you mention about the PM facility and had a look. For some reason your account was stuck in the moderation stage still. I've flicked a switch as it were and it should be fine now :)
