Hi all,
Hope you are all safe and well (and everyone back home is too).
My family and I relocated from the UK to Adelaide (Henley Beach) early this year (2020) and have been settling in since.
We've been trying to find a place to rent in the "competitive" housing market here in Adelaide; naturally with a kid and dogs it seems pretty discriminatory straight off the bat which makes the outrageous process of renting even more so, mass house viewings, umpteen forms to complete, referencing, payslips and seemingly no rights as a tenant don't sit too well with me but I'm told that this along with many other things is simply "how it is over here".
We're actively looking for a long-term rental ideally with the following:
3-4 bedrooms 1-2 living areas 2 bathrooms Aircon and preferably West of the CBD. Must accept a family with a child (14) and two small dogs. Zero interest in mass viewings, long waits, long applications or other such none-sense, if your place ticks the above then we're happy to view and move around January 2021, we're a very clean, respectful family who are just interested in getting on with things, life's too short for the none-sense.
Thanks for reading.

Hi all, I am 21 years and 2 months old, currently pursuing bachelor of engineering at Adelaide University (third year). I am on a 489 Visa here. Its been 2 years since we have moved to Australia and we have satisfied all the conditions of the 489 visa. We will be applying for the 887 Visa now. I live with my parents and am financially dependent on them for my international tuition fees and other needs. Currently 887 visa processing time is ranging from 19 -22 months, I are bothered due to such a long processing time period. Because it's mentioned on DIBP website that A child who turns 23 while your application is being processed and who does not meet these ( dependent ) requirements cannot satisfy the criteria for this visa. Will there be any exception regarding the above highlighted portion since I was granted an eligible 489 visa as a family unit? Can anyone please clarify, your opinion will be highly appreciated. Best Regards Hamza Khan -

My partner and I will be moving to Adelaide early 2018 and are trying to narrow down with area to live in when we first arrive. We would probably initially look to signing a short rental agreement of about 6 months before we take the plunge and buy a house. My partner has secured a job as a GP in the Para Hills area and can drive, not usually minding a commute of around 20/25 minutes. I, however, am awkward and cannot drive, so am dependant on public transport. I think we would prefer to be somewhere with a train station for easy and quick transport into the city, as, at least initially, we would love to get into town to sample all the great restaurants. We would like somewhere fairly smart-ish, safe and clean.
From the research I have done North Adelaide or Croydon seems to fit the bill. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations which would be best, or even a secret third option? Any heads-up about no-go areas would be greatly appreciated too.
